Full-sized image

That's my extremely half-hearted attempt at a backgroudn

Awful quality I know, but something like that angle? We can have side-streets jutting off into the distance too, will be awesome

Foreground pavement, then road where the actual battle happens, with buildings behind it? Maybe different layers of buildings

Yeah, the angles good, but we gotta think about how big robo-bear is going to be so we know what scales to draw at. Also I don't think were going to have to draw any greenery because in a city you don't really see and grass unless your near a park and yeah, different layers for the buildings. I think we should draw the buildings, then think about the road and pavement (plus other things like fire hydrants ect.) afterwards. Am I right in thinking its not going to scroll? Because if it is the programmers need to know and we need to think about how we make it so that it isnt obvious that it is looping

I think it is going to scroll, but only slightly like when the bear advances on you every now and again.
After drawing this I think it should be a smaller scale, so we can get a good view of the whole city and see the tops of buildings but no I agree, we need to see how big the bear is first.

And yeah also we need to think about side-roads going into the distance - are we going to have any?

How can we split this up? One of us could do detailing (e.g. shading, reflections), the other can draw + colour? Idk what do you think

Yeah, I agree about the scale and the scrollings kwl Also, if were gunna make it so we can see most of the city I think there should be two or three side roads. I think in terms of splitting the job up we should have maybe one of us doing the skyscrapers and buildings (aswell as animating them falling and burning ect.) and the other doing the roads, pavement and banners (advertising NH) for the skyscrapers. Aswell as that, were going to need someone to do screaming crowds. Is that ok? Also, just in general, who's going to get the sound effects for the game?

Splitting up roles for background Quote 8 months ago
Well I'm doing Music so i might as well do sound effects too.
You're doing special effects too tho, like for attacks etc. so bear that in mind

Your idea is fine by me, roads and pavements isn't particularly difficult but I can do a ton of detailing to make it look better
Can I do roads pavements and banners, then help you out when finished if you're not done?
Screaming crowds can be shared evenly, we can draw and animate little people, then put them all together unless one person is behind and needs more time

Yeah, Ive only got a building done at the moment though, sorry about that, Ive got a science test on Friday so I'll be able to speed up the work on the weekend and onwards. Here's the building Ive half done

What do you guys think? Do you like the style? Are you happy about the perspective? Should there be any perspective at all? Also bear in mind I haven't added much detailing yet.

Looks all futurey, but I still like it. We could make it work, and I suppose it wouldn't detract too much attention from the main game. I was personally envisioning boring grey buildings, but I kinda like yours too
Could we have a lighter colour, like yellow, instead of black for the windows? Makes it seem kinda dead inside, you could also have a cartoony reflection on them too

I think your style is fine, and if people think otherwise later we can just change the colours a bit good job!
I will start the pavements and roads.

Yep, il make the windows yellow, but i think when the building starts to get destroyed I could make the lights flicker, then turn off and the glass could start to break. What do you think? Also, I can make the building grey if you wanna

Yep, there will definitely be grey and dark grey buildings. Also, because its now the weekend and Ive done my science exam ill be able to get alot of buildings done I'll probably start animating them later on though. In regards to special effects Ive made a task for myself and also set a deadline. Is the 27.11.09 ok? Coders and animators, do you need the SFX earlier?
